The Confessions Podcast

Ever wish you could pull back the curtain and see how other nonprofit consultants run their businesses? Well, we’ve got you covered!

Welcome to the Confessions podcast, hosted by Jess Campbell and Cindy Wagman. We are two former in-house nonprofit pros turned coaches and consultants to purpose driven organizations.

In this podcast, we are giving you access to the business leaders who serve nonprofits as their clients - you know - the people who truly get it.

No more gatekeeping, no more secrets - this podcast is going to give you an inside look at what running a successful nonprofit coaching and consulting business looks like. Basically, we’re asking people how much money they make, how they get paid and what has and hasn’t worked in their businesses.

Jess Campbell

Jess Campbell is the founder of Out in the Boons, a small shop helping non-profits raise more money online and in-person. After working as an in-house Director of Development raising over $18M+ in non-profits from New York to California she had a baby who rocked her world. It was then that she realized 16 hour days planning galas, networking events and coffee meetings with donors before 8 am wasn’t going to work for her growing family. She wanted more time and complete control over her schedule.

In 2017, Out in the Boons was born out of the idea that no non-profit fundraiser should feel off on their own, out on an island or “out in the boons” when it comes to raising money.

In the last 5 years, Jess has built a 6-figure business helping small and mid sized non-profits raise more money online or in-person. She attributes the two best decisions she’s made it her business to be: paying the fast pass to learn from experts and surrounding herself with people who are farther along in their own businesses.

Cindy Wagman, The Good Partnership

Cindy Wagman

Over the past 7 years Cindy has built a business that is grounded in service - in delivering meaningful results to small nonprofits. Oftentimes that’s involved me learning a lot of new things from some amazing experts - but none of those experts focused on businesses that serve nonprofits.

And let’s face it - doing business with nonprofits is DIFFERENT.

Whether you’re delivering fundraising, marketing, strategic planning, technology, or leadership consulting (or really anything in between), the way nonprofits hire help is just not the same as if you were selling to a consumer or other business. Cindy learned that through blood, sweat, and tears.

Cindy has some other fun credentials: she earned her CFRE in 2009, her MBA in 2013, launched a top-rated podcast in 2018 and in 2021 became a best-selling author.
